Julia. this is a wonderful post. Now we know you are an

adreneline junky!  Good for you. I know what it means to give up want to's to go for long to's..like following our passions in our livelihood.  It has been said that to be unhappy with one's work is not making a living but rather making a death, makes sense....let me see now, pondering thought; roller coaster must rank fairly high in the 'I'm safe but still getting my adreneline rush' category, so there must be some other participating events where the adreneline runs high, coupled with the camaraderie...oh, some 'unmentionable' thoughts just came to mind...well, there is wall climbing...I hear that is a real rush, pumping adrenaline and endorphines-kind of sport with a harness for safety and I would make it to the top and purposely jump off to gain yet another rush! Hey, I think I'll give that a try once my dance legs are back in shape.

There's another thing I thought of here pondering thought....I enjoy dancing very much because of the endorphins, but the rush comes when preforming in front of an audience.  We did half-time at a SeaHawks game a few years back and have done stage at Lakefair and parades.  It's a little unnerving but along with that comes the rush.  You are an incredible writer...have you ever attended those author reviews and readings at libraries and such?  There would be camaraderie coupled with the rush from speaking to like-minds in front of crowds of like-minds.  I felt that in college, human biology for the first time when no one in my circle ever got excited about anatomy the way I did. The energy was phenomenal in this class of like-minds.

I apologize, I'm rattling. Thanks for asking how I've been.  I'm okay, just going through some transitions. I believe being a writer full-time could lead to isolation, nothing wrong with being comfortable alone but I believe we are meant to be connected to other souls and we gain a better understanding of who we are and what we want from life when we bounce our energy off of others.

I also believe pets are wonderful and gardening is theraputic and we need alone time to feed our souls but too much isolation can cause conflicts within us also: too much inward, not enough outward.  Another conflict with alone-times is that a lot of us deal with people regularly in our work or businesses. It is only human to need the down time away from people and their needs of us (in our work) but spending time with people of our choosing, others we connect with...the commaraderie of like minds is not the same feeling as being bombarded by collegues, clients or coworkers...we do not choose them, nor our families.

The joy of being connected to people of our choosing comes in pretty close to a tie-breaker with alone time in my heart  Being alone with people of our choosing is also being alone-together. But then again, sometimes we choose people who don't choose us....that is an entirely different story...my last chapter.

Thanks for listening to me vent.  I am atrociously known for my abilities to isolate and I am learning, not good for the soul.  Blessings to you!

I love theme parks. We used to visit Six Flags in Dallas every year when I was young. It was very memorable. I remember 'Big Ben'. I got up the courage to ride it when I was around 13. It was something.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Your roller coaster story sounds like a travel magazine article
in waiting. If you've got photos -- even better.  Maybe they'd even pay you to report on the new roller coasters at theme parks.  You know what they say about following your bliss.

Terrific experiences, I admire your ability to fly thru the air.  I get pretty sick on those rides but I love to see them.  We are near Bush Gardens and Paramount Kings Dominion and they have some cool rides.

Oh, how cool! I never knew "ACE", or clubs like it
existed. I do enjoy riding roller coasters, providing they don't have loops. I went to Six Flags for my junior high school graduation trip, the loop ones really killed me (I'm such wimp!)

That was a very nice post. I am one of those scary screamers. I don't share your joy for them but I do enjoy hearing the story of your fun. Do write more.

Gosh, i'm a little embarrassed to asmit that I've only been on a coaster once in my life. I never knew thre was such a club! You should write those stories about it!

Julia, LOL, I live in Ohio but since I'm afraid of heights, I don't even go
near roller coasters or ferris wheels.  I'd rather ride the carousel.

Julia, I have a typo.  Sorry, the word is ago, not aga.

Julia...........

You wouldn't get me on one, but I live in the right place to go ride them.  My kids take their kids to Kennywood (40-50 miles away) every summer and Cedar Point is four hours away.   They had a major accident with one of the rides at Cedar Point three days aga, killing three people.  I don't know which ride it was.

The point is, Offy and I are close to the roller coasters, but I don't care to get on one.

Julia.
Believe it or not, I've never been on a roller coaster. Honestly, I've never had the desire. I chalk it up to a case of either not missing what I've never had or ignorance is bliss.
