Thanks for the info on Critters
I too did the OWW for a while and I was happy with the feedback.  I will give Critters a try as well.

excellent post

I have a book out called New Avalon, before it was published I found everything you have just gone over to be exactly the case. The writing group at the local bookstore was

just flat out strange.  Even after a glowing bowkers review posted on Bookwire.com

and Writers Digest -the bookstore wouldn't carry 5 copies at a time.  ?

Their reason was because nobody knew who I was.  Getting a book out there is one thing,

I've sold a lot of books--but mostly through my own efforts.

and as for Science Fition and Fantasy Mags --although they publish extremely well-written

stories I find many of them boring.  The small item of effect that would  make a  good story actually entertainng  is often barely touched on while the well written description parts that add almost nothing are constantly belabored .

Apparently the criteria of many editors is not, " will this story entertain the buyer of the mag -but rather, "is it boring enough to be considered a well written story"

Oh, and I've never submitted, I know it's a waste of time-I can buy lottery tickets at the 7-11

Critters
Sadly i could never keep up with the work load. I've joined a couple of times, but can't keep it up. There's no doubting its a great place for folk who want to break into the market, but you need time to trully read the stuff.

critques

Good post. I have been reading quite a bit of the writing here on blogit and unfortunately while some of the stories have promise, few will ever see actual print. Classic mistakes for the most part. I will see you up on critters, best of luck on your writing.
