Re: That's sad ... and very nicely written.

I can understand why the title causes confusion.

I penned the piece four days before my university's commencement ceremony. Since I had finished four years of study and was ready to embark on the next phase of my journey, I started to reflect on the people I had met and the relationships that went sour.

Graduation was a joyous day for me -- a celebration of  hard work and dedication -- but it also was a source of bitterness. I had a hard time shaking the idea that although the moment may have given both my friends and me a fleeting sense of happiness, many of us would most likely reunite on rare occasions, or perhaps never again. The shifting tides would cast us back into reality. And reality, unfortunately, isn't a neat and tidy graduation ceremony, although it may be filled with heaps of savory and mouth-watering pomp and circumstance.

Thanks for the comment.

That's sad ... and very nicely written.

I don't get what it has to do with graduation, though.

Broken promises don't upset me.
I just think, why did they believe me?
