Oh, I'm sure I'll come across one sooner or later.

About ten feet! lol. There's a road that is carved into the mountain called Squirrel Spur. It takes you up and over the top. It's picturesque to say the least.

Yes. There's nothing you can do really if one comes upon you. They can climb trees, run fast, etc. I've been very fortunate. You stay safe there in Grizzly country.

I think they see how great it looks. They always crane their necks when we pass through. I try to instill wonder into them as much as possible.

Well, from that point it's about thirty miles due west. Not far. I've been through there recently.

Hmm. Not sure what that means. But bears have always been symbolic of strength.

what an amazing view!
I'm wondering how far you had to travel on foot to get to this vantage point?

Great post Avant.....what a beautiful view. I think Virginia and the

Carolina's are beautiful states. Oh, and we are having a bear problem so I hope I don't see any this year wandering in my area...that freaks me out!

"Scenes" like that always make me stand in awe.  The kids probably didn't appreciate it as much as you did but they probably sensed your awe.  Intuitive little creatures.....

What a beautiful photo! Funny you mention black bears. In recent weeks,
I've had dreams with bears in them...one was with a grizzly bear and the other with a black bear...each time they were headed to my kitchen! LOL
