You sound like what I was back in the eighties when my four sons became men, left home, bloomed.  Now they are all in their 40's and nothing ever changes as far as wanting the best for them, gritting your teeth when they are making their own decisions, hurting when they hurt.  A mother is forever.

letting go
three cheers for your honesty in writing - I think it´s lovely for kids growing up if you can let them go free.  Then they´ll freely return - my daughter´s been in Belize for the last nine months (I´ve never been away completely for that long) and I´m so pleased and proud that she´s doing exactly what she always wanted - collecting plants in the rain forest.
