I'm a born analyzer, FG. I dissect everything. My fiancee gets mad at me
for arguing both sides of an issue. And you're right. The book always seems to be better than the movie. You get more color, so to speak.
As for the movie version, I haven't seen it yet. I'll let you know when I do. Critics liked it and it was nominated for a bunch of Oscars and Golden Globes, so it's probably pretty well done.

So how did the film measure up on it's own? I won't see a film unless I've read the book first because the movie usually disappoints somehow. For the reasons you state, I guess. I'd never thought about why before, now I will.
