You did it right, whoru. Congratulations. Make me rich... LOL>
But you're right.  Except for maybe the Hindus, whose religion seems to be the eldest (and it may be derivative as well -- I do not know), all the religions of Abraham are trying to kill each other off in search of the promised land and a messiah...

Stalking the Beast
You are a real tiger in regards to that word religion. And I agree with you. I have spent thirty years of my life researching the concept of all religions and found as time went on they barrowed from each other and changed their doctrines to fit the evolution of mans consciousness. Religions today have strayed so far from their original teachings or doctrins that they don't know their ass from their elbows, but they think they do and they want the faithful to believe it.   By the way, you are my first comment. I hope I'm doing it right? Here goes add comment!

You are so correct on every count, gomedome. Masterfully put, my
friend.  It was the elitist exclusionism of predestination that first turned me away from religion as a child.  How could a benevolent omnipotent god allow free will?  Predestination contradicts free will or makes it the sick joke of a nonbenevolent god.  And it is that same elitist exclusionism that powers the intolerance of people like Falwell and his like...

saul_relative -the apocalyptic nonsense is my biggest beef with these folks
It is the unhealthiest message in a stable of unhealthy messages that are all promoted as their religious agendas. That isn't faith, that's nothing more than living in complete denial while condemning everyone else on this planet. Fantasy wrapped up in the feigned validity of eternal religious truth retards our collective knowledge base as a species in a manner that no other influence does. People like this are only great people because they are well known and wield great influence, there is nothing that they represent that I would ever want to emulate. Sadly, the perverted religious mentality of extreme exclusion did not die with this man.

And exactly the point I hope I made, gomedome. This man and the men
like him -- Dobson, Robertson, Roberts, Haggard -- are spreaders of hate, division, intolerance, and apocalyptic nonsense...

And to be fair, Mademoiselle, occasionally something good came out of
his mouth and his pen as well.  It was rare, the temperature in hell plunged for a few seconds, but it happened every now and then...

saul_relative - This is a well balanced post presenting both sides
There is no denying that this man achieved great things in furtherance of his religious agendas. It is only a shame that those agendas were so twisted, misguided and discriminatory towards so many people within our societies.

Okay, there was a word below that was intended to be "extremely" ...

but clearly something tragic occurred during the act of conception.

When I was a child, there were times when we had to entertain ourselves.
And usually the best way to do that was to turn on the TV.

In fairness, Falwell had his good points also.

I hear he was an extrememly well-groomed man, for example.

Oh, and let's be honest, Tinky Winky is awfully swish.

I'll be the first to admit that my idea of God is pretty different.
I believe in a God with a long white beard, a gold crown,
and a long robe with lots of shiny jewels on it.
He sits on a big throne in the clouds,
and he's about five hundred feet tall.
He talks in a real deep voice like, "I...AM...GOD!"
And, he can blow up stuff just by looking at it.
This is my own, personal idea of God.

Jesus seems to have been a pretty good guy by most accounts, Chilitree.
Too many people like Falwell try to blend the old testament with the new, refusing to understand that the philosophies aren't exactly the same.

Saul... I believe in Christ, and I always have been worried when such
leaders as the man you speak of, completely ignore the teachings of Christ...
