Excellent insight here as well.
I am moving in a spiritual growth phase of understanding regarding ego and how ego distorts beliefs and motivates the need for material possessions, occupation and financial status. This phase of enlightenment began directly following the loss of my grandfather and father, the ending of a long-term relationship and has further expanded following the independence of my son, most recently.  I am in the process but have come to conclude my prior view of self based upon my need for approval from the aforementioned relationships that have all ended or changed within a short period. I find myself now seeking approval from my God only and in turn myself and find I am dangling in a rather disoriented state. I have been told this phase to be that of reinventing oneself but have found it to be at long last, the original intention. It is a truth unveiled, the uncertainty of the unknown, not fearful but adventurous, yet still...disorienting. It is most difficult to imagine how dark, dark can be until brought into the light. I appreciate your contributions here considerably.

Re: Munih -
Thanks for reading and reminding me about "maya" too.

Munih -
Excellent post. I am reminded too of the Hindu belief regarding this world - one of "maya" or illusion.
