First and foremost, I'm very sorry for what you're currently experiencing! To remain friends may be impossible in the here and now, because it's difficult to detach from your feelings toward him as your lover and boyfriend. That's not to say that you won't remain friends in the future.
Maybe writing about it or playing your guitar IS what you need to do to sort everything out or let your feelings out. I'm not too good at giving advise, because what works for me may not work for you, but please find a way to let it all out and not hold it in or bury it!
