WavyDavy: It is not the victim's guilt or innocence to which I refer; it is the response of the former mayor before the facts were in. Yes, the police sometimes, sensibly, act to protect themselves. The courts then agree with their actions. In one instance the facts proved that the cops were unjustified and they were convicted for offenses including conspiracy to cover up their mistakes. Yes, a Mayor should express dismay and regret, but let investigators and the courts do their job. Mayor Bloomberg does just that.

The Candidates
That was a good review of Mayor Guiliani. It was thoughtful and fair. One question: Did you ever stop to think that the minority people were shot by the police because they were guilty of committing a crime? Maybe the cop's life was in danger? I can't comment on every specific case but
that is a possibility.
