Hi RaeS...I think you should write something on "bubbles"

I make lists all the time and some of the times I don't misplace them! Hope you have a wonderful day!

I would be asking the same, Mary, lol..

Oh! And Treasure Island with those little seashade cottages resting in the sand...could so see myself living in one, writing poetry to the music of the tide every morning, shelling in the afternoons and watching the moon at night gaze itself across the water. One of these days, hopefully..

Def Poetry is a poetry "jam session" on HBO, Friday and Saturday nights, broadcast from Brooklyn, NY. Poets are selected from the surrounding urban areas and perform their work before a live audience. A wide range of talent and emotion, condition is presented; everything from race issues, war, poverty to the complexities of unrequited hate or making a living as a pimp. (kid you not, lol) The audience reacts right along with the poet's delivery - laughing, crying, groaning, etc. Quite fascinating!

Oh, don't I know it.  I could live there in a heartbeat.  When I overwinter I always come back with this funny accent and it's so funny.  I have my 'Florida' car up here with the FL plates and everyone asks me, what do you want to be up here for?  lol  Never made it to Melbourne beach, but JM and I went to a gay bar there.  Long story.  There aren't any gay bars in Vero.  Too stuffy, locals call it, 'Zero Beach'.  lol  Oh, yes, the Mouse House, love it!  Have many friends in O-Town.  I watched the last space shuttle go up at night from the beach at the condo, it was amazing!  Friend of mine lives in Titusville.  Had my Spider towed from there, another long story.  Yup, we could talk Florida all night!  Oh, LOVE the Gulf coast!  Did you see my pictures of Apalachicola?  They're in my blog, the post before the poem.  Don't read the narrative, just look at the pictures.  I love them!

Yes, he is good, Mary..my fave poets include the Brownings, Emily Dickinson
"since feeling is first", "if strangers meet"; two really good ones by e e cumming that pop into thought. And several astounding, young poets on Def Poetry...have you ever watched that? I feel somewhat wanting in my abilities after hearing those geniuses, lol..

Yes, you've mentioned Vero Beach...been that way several times
Lovely little community, from what I remember..I've spent alot of time in Melbourne and Melbourne Beach. I have a couple of friends there, made through family living there. The family member who lived in Melbourne passed away a few years ago, but there are a couple who still live part time in an RV park in Melbourne Beach. They travel around alot, but it's open invitation for trips down there. I used to take my kids often - so convenient to Disney World and the Space Center. Last time I went to Florida, right after Christmas 2006, I went to Clearwater...love those sugarsand gulf beaches! Celebrated New Year's 2000 in Sarasota..look at me, I could go on and on about Florida, lol. The place is enchanting indeed, both sides...:)

You were in Melbourne?  My condo is in Vero Beach and Melbourne is like a 20 minute drive up A1A, as long as you don't get stopped by the police.  hee-hee.  Banana's in Central Florida, really?  That's amazing.  We had a few REALLY cool nights --down in the 30's, farmers were quite concerned.  Soul pouring poetry is really good to do, but I also agree that freeing the mind and just playing is as good, even if in a different way.  My favourite poet is e e cummings.  You read him?

posted by FoliageGold on May 7, 2007 at 2:37 PM | link to this | reply

Oh dear Mary, yes you are a poet! Just read that incredible verse..
I write so much soul pouring stuff; gets too deep and heavy sometimes, I think...I love poetry that makes me smile, laugh, clap my hands like a child, feel lighter and playful. A writer that can do that with verse is indeed a poet! Oh yes, those right-off-the-tree Florida grapefruits are amazing in flavor, as are the oranges and lemons. Once in Melbourne, a neighbor of my friend brought over some bananas from a small tree he had cultivated in his backyard ~ Wow! Unbelievable flavor! I became a huge banana fan, but the store bought ones can't compare. I wouldn't have thought bananas could grow so well in Florida, but they can.

Yes, love picking berries.  We do that every year and make jams, etc.  When I was in Florida, I soooooooo loved going out to my friend's yard every morning and picking an Indian River Grapefruit off his tree.  We've been eating them up here forever and never in a million years did I think I'd ever live there (temporarily I'm not an illegal immigrant! lol).  Well, I'm not a poet like you are, but I try to play with y'all.

Oh yes, I bet Florida strawberries are the best
As many times as I've been to Florida, don't think I've had berries straight from the plant there. I love to go plucking in the fields here in S. Indiana; a treasure hunt with sweet rewards..:) A poem?...Wonderful! Will be over at your place soon, dear lady.

Rae
They might be CA berries.  I know Florida's berries came into season when I was in Plant City and they grow the best berries I've ever tasted.  Oh, that does sound good.  Oh, I wrote a sweet little poem for you today; it's in my blog.  Was just thinking about playing outside and Voila!

Yes, Thank you, Mary! I planned on buying a carton of fresh strawberries
last night, but didn't make it to the store. They are in season somewhere in the country, I suppose..or are they imported from China?.. Anyway, I love 'em! Lightly sugared, dipped in chocolate or honey or in their luscious, juicy bareness..yum!...lol. Thanks!

Timing is often strange for myself also, Proc

I try to keep notebooks handy everywhere, but the worst is that period between sleeping and full conscience state - I've penned incredibly beautiful verse then (in my mind, anyway)...awake enough to be aware of the impressions, but too out of it to get up and grab a pencil.....dreams or actual writing, is there a difference?...)

Thank you.

Iwas thinking the same thing today. Topics pop into my head at the oddest
times.  I always see the heading and first lines but after Ive finished cooking,or hanging washing,or scrubbing toilets the idea is gone.  I really need to write it down.
