It sounds truly lovely. History and mythology have always fascinated me .
Id love to visit a place like your museum.  The suger results come out tomorrow. Thats tuesday in new zealand time. will keep you posted.

Yes, you are right, Liptis Magna was almost completely covered by sand so it was preserved in excellent condition. it si hard to believe that the statues brought from there are 2000 years old.

lindo G. You can write so well on any subject. This one is tough.
When Lucius Septimius Severus became emperor, sometime in 200AD, the city became prominent. Today, Leptis Magna is the site of some of the most impressive ruins of the Roman period. Isn't it? Carthage,Alexandria, Byzantium, all sound so archelogical and I love this write that brought some literary memories.
