Re: very interesting thoughts. People who get adulation often get it for
Many thanks Proc,but as you wrote "I may be greater than you and in others you may be greater than me"what I am trying  to say is that we are one of both because of circumstances but it is how we act that really matters.I think I'll have write on the matter again after thinking more deeply.It seems that the words master and slave are taken too literally,and no doubt the words bring up unpleasant asssociations[memories].

very interesting thoughts. People who get adulation often get it for
the wrong reasons. like Angelina Jolie is not a great actress.  and a woman who breaks up a marriage would be normally called a homewrecker,slut etc.  Instead,because she is beautiful,rich and famous the media and public more or less worship her and accept her immoral behaviour. Id like to be neither slave nor master but an equal because sometimes I may be greater than you and in others you may be greater than me.

This post provoked several images & thoughts;

The question directing low self-esteem to one becoming to a leading or subservient position; I believe could be yes & no.  In the greatest scheme of my beliefs we are each a cog in a great wheel for a divine purpose.  I also believe generationally we are born to position of leader or subservient based upon ancestory and or what we have been taught to believe our roles to be.

Martha's were born to be servants and Mary's to be greeters & hostesses.  There are several scripture regarding the leader & subservient roles including the most significant of Jesus washing the feet of the disciples.  To humble oneself, to disregard ego and to express gratitude in either position can mature one to change roles.  I believe these three virtues or lack thereof determine whether we become good leaders or good follower lowering or raising our positions.

"History shows us that none has been able to maintain their ascendancy indefinitely,all have started humbly, matured and then became something lesser. In the cycle of slave to master and master to slave,we should be watchful for the arrogance of the master and the despair of the slave who is forgetful of the cycle's equalizing trend."

I believe maintaining the ascendancy (I had to look that word up by the way, good word) or ending up a legacy is determined by the ability of the leader or dominating head to be supportive of the needs and overall well begin of the subservient.  That is what we refer to as democracy I believe. (Excuse me, as not historical, I am also not political), but I do believe two things;

1) A leader is only as good as the admiration of his followers and how he proves his leadership abilities through outcomes or actions.

2) The greatest of current and historical leaders had two continually available power sources of support contributing to their achievements and success; the power of Almighty God and a truly devoted, insightful and intelligent wife.

Just my two cents worth! Thank you for provoking thought.

Re:
Thanks,sure! but what is the reason for wanting to be a friend,the charisma of the one sought or a low self-esteem of the seeker?
