Hello Mary, great to hear from you! Glad you were helped.
Postpartum depression can be serious; though I only had mild cases of it, times three...:) How do you know when the depression has ended? I think when the tears don't erupt constantly, you feel more hopeful and positive about life in general, you are able to laugh and enjoy other people once again. A gradual shift, but noticeable.
Thank you for visiting!

Yes, I have heard of that, Proc..My mind can't comprehend it, though
To deliberately make your child sick just to garner attention/sympathy...unreal. Wise insights about parenting. Thank you.

Very true, Pat B...Unimaginable for any mother to be so cold and cruel
and murderous. I am horrified that she was enabled to commit this crime by medical "professionals." To me, it shows how badly broken the entire healthcare/ prescription drug system has become. As I stated in an earlier comment, Profits matter, not people. Sickening..
Thank you for reading and responding.

Not good about the anti-biotics, Proc

But not overmedicating, especially kids is the flip side I suppose. Thanks for sharing.

Well I don't have much more to add to what the others said, and my last comment. But this reminds me that I'm out of my herbal "Happy Camper" and I need to go buy some! :)

Gosh how dreadful! I've wondered on this myself at times, especially with regard to children. After the birth of my last child I fell into a post-partum depression. I wondered about the hormones.... In any case, (long story) 9 months passed before I went on medication, and I'm glad I did because it really helped. Problem was though, how do you know you're not depressed anymore? --Joy!Mary

I had to come back as I read that news excerpt late.
and wanted to comment on it. Have you heard of Munchausens by proxy. Where parents get attention from doctors by making their kids sick. One mother injected her child with its own faeces so it would be constantly in and out of hospital giving her all the attention and sympathy she wanted. Anyway it was really shocking to read about a child being diagnosed at that age with bi polar. For heavens sake, all kids are slighly crazy and meant to disrupt our lives. We as parents have a duty to teach them with love and patience ,how to become civilized people. You only have to see the supernanny programme to see how badly kids can behave if their caregivers are failing in their duty . As you said these are parents who couldnt be bothered to live through the difficult times of being a parent. There are no designer kids only loving parents who spend time and effort to get their kids under control.

Drugs or not, if a parent wants to kill a child, she'll find a way.
There've always been childhood accidents and illnesses and children have always been vulnerable -- drugs are a more convenient, "more humane" tool for parents who'd stop short of more direct or violent means. I hate to know how that parent's mind works - what a cesspool it must be.

New Zealand sometimes errs on the side of too much caution as regards anti-
biotics. It sometimes feels like you have to be almost dying before they will prescribe anti biotics. But we appreciate that they dont medicate unnecessarily.

I wish that would happen here..the drug companies are in control of the
medical profession, followed by insurance companies. Profits matter, not people, tragic to say. And live.
