You make an excellent point about being "able to help no one but yourself". It is really something to think about.

There is nothing wrong for wanting things, missjohn, just as long as you do
nothing to disparage or be hurtful to others. Look on the bright side, if you made enough, you could not only afford the home you want, but be able to contribute to worthy charities to help those poor and suffering around the world (just make sure you put your money in the hands of reputable organizations). In fact, I feel that it is a disgrace for someone to not reach as far and high as they can if they can. Wrong is not reaching your full potential. Then you would be able to help no one but yourself (and possibly a few in your immediate circle).
