Welcome, Toby!
Wonderful handle you have there!  As for your predictions, I would surmise from the weather events of the past few months that "global warming" is not real. Eight inches of rain in two days, as New York had, and snow every day for a week in April as we had here in Ohio is hardly conducive to the desertification of the U. S. Neither, I might add, is the basic geography of this wonderful country. Parts of the Southwest and isolated dune fields in Oregon, Michigan, Wyoming (and elsewhere?) may look like the Sahara, but one would be very hard pressed indeed to find any similarity whatsoever between the Mississippi River, the Rockies, Lake Tahoe, the redwoods, the Great Lakes or any number of other natural features and the Sahara unless one is thinking in terms of eons rather than "soon." And I think it'd be wonderful if more of the world were like the USA.

Just keep your heads in the sand, Yanks
It's quite simple. If global warming is real, the United States will soon be like the Sahara Desert, for which much of the world will give thanks. If not, the rest of the world will soon be like the United States, which makes me glad I'm too old to see it.

if there is no global warming and it is not man made then we are deep shit
because there is nothing we can do about it and we face a catastrophic future.
