I like the poem very much but it obviously comes from great-deep pain!
I believe you are right in as much as we-(the individual)-has to change things or bring about changes and if we waite for something/someone-I really can't see it coming/hppenin! I feel 'we' have to 'make things happen'--and we need to start-by loving ourselves!Chris.

i actually don't think not having hopes means being negative... i stopped having hopes many years ago, simply working on things to make them change when necessary rather then hoping waiting for something better to happen
