You are right my friend you don't have to respect any religion by force
but respect should come on its own .The Surahs that you have touched upon have to be understood in the context of the advent of Islam and the conflict that it faced from its adverseries . Islam never recommends killing of anyone unless it has to be in defense .This Surah deals with a situation when Muslims were severly harassed and had come to compromise for the sake of peace very often . I am pleased to know that you are reading the Holy Quran . If the book has light in its store and if you do read it fully from one page to the last page you will find some relief to your heart which is so hurt by the two Surahs . Salam . Peace be upon you .
