You'r a breath of fresh air Troosha
The wheels feel very heavy at the moment. I have always been independent, able and defiant. I have found marriage to deprive me of the essence of my existence but at Blogit I feel I can regain this essence. Thank you (everyone) for your support and input through your comments and your own blogs.

Thank you Bhaskar.
i would love to discuss th subject of women's position in the Eastern cultures, but i'm in a man-bashing mode right now and i would not be rational AT ALL. your post about bondage was very enlightening, it gave me something to think about and a sense of finding a way out.

Lindo
Dry those tears (that you describe so beautifully) and keep spinning those wheels that you've put into motion.  Sounds like you need and want to stand on your own two feet.

Hi lindo
I loved that ''fig-leaf comment of your's. True, the scriptures have twisted the very neck of 'substance', by rendering women into second-grade positions, purely on the basis of their pride, family pride to be more precise, as prevalent even today in almost all Islamic countries, and through their brute strength into reducing women as objects, not as individuals, considering them more as infidels. But I see you brave, intelligent, fiercely independent, and a loving soul trying to find solutions. I applaud you in your quest, and may God grant you your seeking.

oh my can I relate to this!!!!!

"I had come to view marriage as an acid tub that was eating away at my individuality, my identity, my sense of worth, and the straws just kept piling."

I am christian woman..  I wonder if this is just a universal truth for many women sometimes when it comes to marriage.

Great post!

Keeping our name is the fig leaf left to us

Our religion was not meant to degrade women , on the contrary it was revolutionary at the time becuse it allowed women the right to own money and property , to work and to marry whom they chose (or refuse), seek divorce if she wasn't happy in her marriage. Inthe early days of Islam, women set up field hospitals, fought alongside men and even led revolts. But somehow, men managed to twist the scriptures and found  loopholes to make women submissive. I intended to write about this but i need to find the Koran in english to prove my view that God had never meant us to be second degree creatures.

As for my situation, well it can be resolved with a little diplomacy but this is not my forte, when something is within my right i'll take it by hook or crook. I'll let you know how i solve this. thanx for you suport.Proc. always a pleasure to hear from you.

Oh lindo girl,I can feel your pain and irritation.
We learn every day here on blogit and Im surprised married women dont take their husbands surname especially as Ive always thought men have alot of power in your nation/religion.Please educate me here.I simply hate it when the 'rules' change because in some way a partner feels threatened. All that permission thing went out with the ark!!!
