I live in a small town (8,000 perhaps) and my home looks out onto the ocean. The town is so peaceful as are my surroundings. I don't bode well in big cities although I love to travel, embrace them, see all that I can see and then return the quiet of my "small" living. I think both environment inspire but you're right... in a big city you have to dodge the negativity.

It is so true that there are places, and i've also felt that some of these energize whereas others suck. Great that you have found one, and now I am keen to find one in the big city that I live in.
