I always say to my kids you have y and x chromosomes
why shouldnt you have characteristics of both men and women? There is no clear definition just humans who complement each other. And our roles should be fluid whatever suits us at the time.

Wonderful post.  Yes, there are many strong women in your family.  I'm really enjoying reading your blog and about your heritage, culture, etc.  Hope you'll still post when you're actually there!  --Joy!Mary

i could write a book about my mother, Taps
She is an amazing women, but we have frequent communication problems and we both fly off the handle in under 20 seconds.

wise as usual Greenfields
But i must say that this is the ideal not the reality. In my household my husband will not do the dishes or put his shoes away because it is the women's job, he will not change lightbulbs or fix a dripping tap because these are tirvial things not worth his attention. He can't seem to remember to pay bills because they come at inconvenient times. I can't help thinking "to hell with sharing, I'll handle all this alone".

Very well written
and so from the heart. While I agree that women and men have different roles and should do what they do best, there is great value in sharing roles. And, in some ways we need both.  The trick is in knowing when we need what and feeling good about moving between the two worlds.
