this post intrigues me greatly.. are we ever alone? I have to wonder.. Eagles don't sore because of their own beautiful wings.. It is the wind that supports them.. the wind that lifts them up.. unseen but there.. not that they don't have initial responsibility .. they do.. but they have help we don't see because of the beauty of the expansive flight.

What I'm thinking of is that when we are suffering, we may not be
suffering as much as we fear we are--and to fight our way out of discomfort or even true suffering, is like the chick hatching out, becoming strong enough in the struggle to survive life in the world. We get strength from fighting our own battles.
I agree, there are times to involve our friends in our pain, to let them help, and sometimes not. But we can easily forget, in trying to spare them, that they want to help, to be relied upon, to be received from, and not to be cut out, excluded from our experience.

Very good whirrings, Ciel
Not sure how beneficial suffering alone is, but oft' we don't really have a choice and if we do, I sense it is easier to handle it solo. Not out of a false claim to bravery or a bid for martydom, but because more pain can birth from seeing those you love struggle the same burden...if that makes any sense. Thank you for sharing.

When pain is huge, one of the best ways to diminish it
is to make it a smaller portion of your whole self.
Solitude, both in happiness and pain, is much under-valued, I agree. But it can also be a trap, when we seek isolation to avoid what we think we can't cope with. And sometimes, it is a vacation...!
See, you've got my brain whirring, here...

Very true, Poet
And there are so many modes of aloneness to grapple with...I've been spoiled in alot of ways by people always around and communicating, by companionship of heart and soul so embraced and blessing...spoiled but not so lucky in learning how to enjoy extended periods of just me, myself and I.
Thank you for reading.

our society fears being alone
yet we need it, we need the solace to think, to ponder, and wonder
