they don't Yeshua (not Jesus) to have been human like we are.
they want to maintain the mythical image graven about a half millennium at least after he lived
and any intimation of humanness of Yeshua is anathema to them.
but it does really look as though Yeshua was crucified naked.
the usual depiction seems to add mystery to the figure.

I'm afraid that I consider the source and take it with a grain of salt. It doesn't weaken or spoil my faith in the least.
