I used to think the same thing as well, when I was much younger. Luckily, I've been blessed with finding a path that has helped me to see a bit more of what is "behind the veil". Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you, my friend, for stopping by and commenting! And what a wonderful comment it is! Your analogy of dogmas being the outer coat of religion is very appropo. I am reminded of the hate group known as the Arayan Nation, who in our neck of the woods tend to wear long black "slicker" jackets. Those jackets are symbols of being covered in hate. But one the jacket is removed and the true person is revealed - the true Self is accepted, the hate melts away and the journey to the Divine begins.

Hi! Haven't "seen" you around in a while. Thanks so much for stopping by and for commenting. Please accept my gratitude for your particular comments, though I might not have been specific enough in my "climbing the mountain" analogy. I didn't mean to refer to "God" from a directional perspective at all. I agree with you that "God" is everywhere. And I too have tried many paths since I had "God's" divine spark awaken within me many years ago. Some paths have been extremely painful; some have been quite joyous. But all have helped me to learn.

What I have learned over these many years is that we all (at least those of us who choose to walk a spiritual path) learn what is necessary for us to mature spiritually within the comfortableness of our particular take on life. Just as the Bushmen of the Kalahari were amazed at the "magic" of the camera introduced to them in the mid 2oth century(since they had no understanding of a camera's use of light, aperature, and photosensitive chemicals to create a picture - it didn't fit into their cosmological landscape), so to each of us can only understand what fits into our cosmological and spiritual landscape as we know it. I respect and am joyful in knowing that you have reached a place spiritually where your comfortableness and certainty knows no end. There are so many who have yet to reach that place. Actually, there are so many who have yet to even begin the search. And I am glad that you took the time to actually read my post, since again, there are so many who are limited in their search for truth. Blessings to you, as well.

It is indeed in the destination that we find peace. Thanks for stopping by, reading, and commenting. And, glad to "meet" you to!

Say it isn't so....
Bravo!  It is so refreshing to read that there is not only one way to connect with our source.  Frequently I read the Christian posts (and I respect a fundamentalist Christian's approach) and I often come away thinking - "What about all the other religions?"  Does one out weigh another.  Is one right and another wrong?  As long as we're finding our way up the mountain does it really matter if each journey is unique?

As you very rightly point out that it will be an insult to God if any particular sect or faith claims that it is either my way or no way. Temperamentally also the one path of Faith is not suitable to all. God would Himself not have given variety if it were to be so. Rose as a flower would have been enough.

The Upanisadic philosophy of Religion transcends all dogmas and rituals which vary from religion to religion. It is the dogmas and rituals, which constitute the outer coat of a religion, that breed intolerance, hatred and conflict. Once these divisive forces are surpassed, it will be found that all religions do, in their essence, uphold the same spiritual values. The conflicts of religion will then be resolved into a harmony. This Universal Religion is not conditioned by time, place and circumstances. And, the different religions are but different facets of this Universal Religion. The diversity of paths characterizes not only religions but also different sects within the same religion. The different paths ultimately all boil down to four main paths for the realization of divinity - the path of Work (Karma Yoga), of Devotion (Bhakti Yoga), of Psychic control (Raja Yoga) and of Knowledge (Jnana Yoga). Any one of these paths or any combinations of these paths can lead man on to the divine goal.

And so there are, and you said it so well and eloquently!

You have done a wonderful job on this analogy. Directionally it is a good platform. I respect your beliefs. However, I do not agree with you. God is everywhere, it is not a directional situation. You can not get to Norway wihtout a vehicle of some sort most likely several before you reach your destination; this is the difference. Jesus is the only vehicle that will travel that path. I have tried your avenues and all those I could find including education in science. There is but one True God and only One assured path to that God. Please don't think I do not respect your right to choose as you will. That takes nothing away from you in my sight and if it did what difference is that? I am only expressing my long years of faith exploration. Be blessed.

Yes, the journey, the directions, the sustenance may differ for all, but it is in the desination we find peace.  Nice to, 'meet' you.  --Joy!Mary
