- Go to Rumsfeld Case Thrown Out Of Federal Court
Exactly the same problem we're having now with the Democrats taking
over in Congress after the Republicans have held sway for the past 12 years. The problem really wasn't that Republans held the majority. It was the type of Republicans that were in power that was the problem. Now, it's one scandal after another...

Yes, our parliament does have it's, 'fair share of extraordinary abuses as well'. Part of the difference I think is, the population of Canada fits nicely into the state of California. Our geography is as vast as the US, but peopled to a far lesser degree and thus our 'problems' tend to be relative and on a much smaller scale than in America. However, even after having said that, news like impeaching Clinton, the Rumsfeld deal, etc., wouldn't sit well with our people at all. They'd scream from the rafters. And I sometimes wonder about this, 'freedom' we have in Canada in that because our numbers are smaller we feel safer screaming because we know it's not often someone would come along and hack us off at the knees. (We have our big brother, the US, to protect us) One thing I really do like about your government is the fact that your President cannot reign for more that two consecutive terms. We need to adopt this in Canada. Our last Liberal government lost power a few years ago and yikes the can of worms that was opened from their having become complacement for being in office for too many years! --Joy!Mary

Price of politics, Foliage. Win a few; lose everything else. Then add
selective collective denial. Look the other way until the next scandal, the next degredation. But then, it's not a new song, so you've heard a lot of it before. Canadian politics can't be that much more transparent and benign than American, can it? Surely, given human nature, the workings of parliament have their fair share of extraordinary abuses as well?

I'm not from your country so sometimes it's difficult to understand the ways of somewhere else. But how, on earth, can they get away with this? --Joy!Mary

Much of what goes on in the corridors of power in Washington is ludicrous,
