I agree, and it's the conclusion I've come to, and what I am determined to do now.

Ignore.  Totally ignore.   Don't open any emails.  Don't respond to anything.   Just ignore.   Don't block.  Let the person make an ass of themselves in front of everyone.   Don't answer any comments and don't post about that person and don't make comments to anyone else on their blogs about that person.  Act as if that person does not exist.

Sunnybeach7 - there are no hard and fast answers to the questions that you

pose, simply because all people are wired differently.

Especially pertaining to individual levels of sensitivity; Where some people are crushed and truly upset by the words of others about them, there are others that merely laugh it off. Myself, I attempt to utilize the numerous attacks that I have had upon me to increase blog rankings. "Ride em and beat em like a rented mule . . . yeehaw" ...up the rankings until they catch on (many don't catch on). For most people however, if they are attacked by someone and their user name is referenced directly (or even if the reference is too thinly veiled), they have a legitimate complaint and should report the individual. The blocking utility is the next option coupled with discretion or retreat. I leave the monkeys alone, there are plenty of other monkeys for them to exorcise their inner demons upon, bicker with, or play schoolyard games with. Still, application of discretion is not always easy.

Sunny....
I'd be your own sunny self!  Yes, I'd report such comments because they serve no purpose really.  Although people are 'allowed' to write whatever they want......  I'd just smile and walk away.  Sorry to hear this happened to you.

LOL...I'm not sure exactly what that meant or what it was in response too, but it made me laugh.

Thanks.  I have gone to blogit before, many a time,  with issues of name calling and defamation etc.
Nothing...I didn't even get a reply other than an automated "they would look into it".
So I don't have any faith in that route.

Sometimes it just has to be done.
Have you seen Mark's poem?  LMAO

Block and ignore is good.
If it escalates, though, do report it. Blog it does not necessarily take an active monitoring role -- one has to bring problems to Shaycom's attention before they look into anything -- but defamation and that sort of thing should not have to be tolerated.

Of course, if you're dealing with roundabout, back door gossip, then there's not a whole lot to do but go with the first option -- ignore and block.

I've tried to use blocking as a last resort but have needed to use it..
That's ALL I'm going to say!  LOL

Thanks. I think I had blocked 3 in my time here, but I eventually unblocked them all.

Actually I have blocked 2 bloggers in my several years here

Shine 'em on.....forget 'em, leave 'em in the dust....block 'em......and go on....

Thanks.  I really appreciate your thoughts on this issue, as I know you are aware of and have had some similar issues in the past.

Bhaskar

I really don't need to block as the person doesn't comment to me.

Have you used this technique? On whom, me? Hahaha

posted by Afzal_Sunny7 on March 25, 2007 at 10:23 AM | link to this | reply

Sunny, I know it is hard because of the range of emotions involved,
but it's always been true in my experience with harassment (on Blogit once or twice, obscene phone callers before that, etc.) that ignoring the source is the best route to take - not trying to parrot Scriber, but he's right...:) It is fail proof, eventually. Hang in there and here, with your head held above! Peace and Love are Yours!!

Not blocking such and ignoring their comments is an even better trick. It frutrates them. Didn't I use this technique, and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed seeing the other tear his/her hairs.

I'm happy.
Does that mean you are going to utilize ignore and block as well?

Good advice there, and you're likely right about that.

I agree with Scriber .

First, ignore them, the unkindest cut of all. and then block them, the
second unkindest cut.  Then forget it.   No one but you and perhaps one or two others are even interested.
