We also have a rottie who is so gentle,  she has never bit anyone and is gentle as can be with the children but I am still aware because of their reputation.

Yesterday we went to the theater in KC and saw the play, "Its A Dog's Life".   It was so well done and I enjoyed it so much.  It was from the viewpoint of the dogs.   Of course, it was the little yappy nervous dog that was the biter and the trouble maker.

LOL I hate ankle bitters too. Wiener dogs are the worst. Thanks for reading!

8-Ball,
I'm more of a cat lover, myself, but I can tell I'd like your dog if he crossed my path. Oddly enough, I'm more inclined to stand off more around little ankle biters b/c they're harder to keep in sight. My aunt has three Doberman now and had two several years ago too, and they've been incredibly friendly to me, and they love to play. I have never once had a problem with any of them, or feared them, even though they're a breed that is also considered "dangerous" too. Don't fret too much about the annoying people with the trouble-maker dogs...they're just jealous b/c they know deep down that they suck just as much as their dogs.

Yeah I wanted too. That lab was scary and my dog doesn't even know how to bark.

That is one of my pet peeves.  My sister has the world's sweetest dog who, happens to be a pit bull. She would never hurt anyone. One time they were at Petsmart and some little girls tried to pet her, but their dad pulled them away and told them not to get near her.  My sister was so mad that she made a comment to the effect of "better not let them near that black guy over there since they're all criminals!" It's the same kind of stereotyping. I personally love Rotties!  I used to get that a lot when I had my two German Shepherds with me.  The really big one was a teddy bear who never got in a fight in his life and loved everyone. But of course people stayed away from us. (The smaller GSD who's still living can be a real shit to other dogs over food or territory, but he's not that bad! )

It is a shame people judge a book by it's cover.  Good Post.

Unfortunately, people can't get past the stereotype. I promised my dad that I would take his rotweiller when he passed. She is 6 and an oaf!! The biggest, kindest most loveable dog you could imagine.

8-ball, thats awful that people are judging Toby just based on him being
a Rottweiller...man, I'd been showing some teeth at that judgemental lady with the lab.....
