actually, in this case everybody is fiddling, but I guess he didn't like the way the others fiddled, so he started fiddling his own tune...wants to be a soloist, probably...

well, we know it must be there because of its gravitational effect. But we didn't know this until fairly recently...And to complicate matters further, there is a physicist who makes it go away by fiddling with the Newtonian equations...although nobody else seems to like that very much...

I guess if you look out into space on a starry night and you cant see anything between the stars and moon and all those things, you just take it for granted that its there and that it matters even if its "dark".

As I understand it "dark matter" is mysterious material that exerts a gravitational pull, but does not emit nor absorb light? It remains a mystery to even astronomers. But I suppose it’s not a dark hole of abyss, after all.
