People who do this are the same people who same something nasty about you, IN FRONT OF YOU, in front of everyone...then giggle, "Just Kidding." Um, no, they're not. When they are making "suggestions" they are sending out that trial balloon. If it were met with a strong, "Hell no, back away, witch," dollars to donuts the woman would have said..."teehheee. Just kidding. Lighten up." If your man had gone along, it wouldn't have been a kidding thing at all.
I think you're guessing that I'm not crazy about these kinds of people. Put another way, if this is a friend, and the person knows it would bother you, but does it anyway, how can that person be your friend? Friends don't attempt to hurt one another.
