JBird, your disorder is like SADD -- Selective Attention Deficit Disorder,
which is the ability to choose what one wishes to hear...

haha...
...that's classic! I once worked as a skate-guard at a local hockey rink and we had to take a CPR course to be certified before being allowed to work, and of the five of us that took the hands-on test and then the written test, only one kid failed the written test on the first try, while the rest of us got 90% correct or better. After the instructor told him he'd have one more chance to re-take the test, which the rest of us had to wait for before being dismissed, he replied, "I hope I do gooder this time." It was a long night, but eventually he passed (with some help) and we all had a good laugh over it after he left. Thankfully, he didn't need to perform CPR at any point, or take any other written exams that could've held the rest of us up when we should've been free. BTW, a guy I work with came up with a name for a condition he says I have...OOCD...occasional obsessive compulsive disorder, b/c sometimes I'm very particular and meticulous in trying to perfect something (at work), while other times I act (as he says) "like I just don't give a sh*t."

Ah, BlondeAmbition, everybody has ADD. It's known in its various forms
as daydreaming, own little world, not paying attention, absorbed, distracted, musing, etc. Only the special ones are DUM...

It's alright, Nautikos, I hadn't noticed... much. But, hey, nothing wrong
with an 'eh' or three, eh? But, you know, sometimes my brain does hurt a bit when dealing with some of my associates (and a lot of the customers)...

Didn't that make your day, eh? )As a Canadian, I have to get the odd eh in, it's part of my duty to the nation, lol.) As far as DUM is concerned, especially when found in an employee, I would suggest, dim, useless, migraine-inducing...

for the acronym so as not to her this girl's feelings. I came up with Disorder of Unused Mentality...

Absolutely, Azur. It's those tight-assed, authoritarian personalities that
can't find the humor in a joke. But that's enough talk about the GOP...

Here's some advice you could give to that employee: "The best non-pharmacological treatment for ADD is exercise, sex, and humor." — Dr. Ned Hallowell, Co-author of Driven to Distraction.
