Growing up in the midwest, I heard tales like these numerous times.
It's sad. What's sadder is that many don't realize the true sacrifices that our famers make to produce what we often leave resting at the bottom of a garbage pail. Farming is a hard life. Those who participate don't do it for the money so much as for a love of the land.

Workers in ditches face the same physics rules, so installing
new sewer lines or buried electrical or fiber optic cables can be very dangerous work. Good suggestion on the science experiment...:)
