Well, I think anyone who has suffered any emotional pain constructs a wall out of the desire for self-protection. It's up to that indidivual to recognize that what was wanted most by constructing that wall is what is keeping it away.

Peel away the layers of the human onion and – Voila! – the pureness of soul, heart, and vulnerability exists. Many are, as you said, afraid to be their true self and they are missing out not only on the gift to themselves but the gift they can offer to others. Wonderful post, Avant!

..I was once told I had a wall around me. TOok me years to understand that comment but now..opening up...I am happier and more fulfilled. Protection can only last so long in life.
