I admire your humility. It is the beginning of wisdom.

Deepananda,You have said here everything that can be said and more times and in more ways than one would think possible. That I am not instantly enlightened after reading this is testimony to the strength, persistence and endurance of my recalcitrant ego. MoonSpirit

Thanks for your view on the subject. I just need to clarify that the Upanishad expounds a concept of non differentiation, there is no birth or death but different manifestations of the Essence of Being. You are right in pointing out that at the final stage of our merging people, who had near death or out of body experience, see brilliant light. But this experience is still at the gross body / subtle body level. True merging takes place only at the astral body level.

Thanks for your appreciation. I am sure your uncle is fully aware of this. I wanted to share with you the fact that though I live in Chennai, I spent 10 years of my life in Kolkata, the intellectual capital of India. I had profound influence from the teachings of Sri. Ramakrishan Paramahasa, Sri, Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore. You say I look at every post of yours from different dimension and the culture of Bengal has a great contribution towards it. All the best to you and your family.

I thouroghly enjoyed the nine techniques so wonderfully elucidated, each a gem in itself. You present the Navaratna of Chhandogya Upanishad. I shall get a print and read it out to my uncle. He is a profound scholar, and will take much delight from it, I'm sure.

Hi Deepananda - interested in the thoughts on the death process.
I once read the Dalai Lama's description, taken from many others' teachings, no doubt on, if I remember rightly, the eightfold sequence of death, ending in a white light, if I remember rightly. It was quite inspiring, and detailed as to what we are supposed to see as we go thru each stage.
