You are correct in your analysis. No business can be run and no innovation can be ratified unless there is some hiding of truth rather than a blatant lie. At the present worldly level pure truth may be a stumbling block because we have created a world on a false fabric though it gives us very comfortable feel. As we move up in the Maslow hierarchy of needs we need to then condition our existence on truth rather than on half truths. Thank you for your comment.

One reason we don't face truth, is it helps us to keep doing things.
And it's more satisfactory and serves some constructive end to do something useful rather than nothing. It enables houses to get built, medicines to be invented, and life to be improved. So while often these are only achieved because we ignore our coming death and look at medium to long term goals despite this, trying to make the world a better place after we die and won't see it, those are noble aims and probably in keeping with survival of the species rather than just the individual (which is impossible). So there is a mixture of lies and truth involved in our ambitions and activities, but this mixture serves a purpose, i think.

Very incisive analysis of individual's position with respect to facing the truth. I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Many of us don’t want to know the truth about our self. We conveniently hide emotional, spiritual, or psychological ghosts in our closet not wanting to take them out and have a close look at them – understand them or even heal them for that matter.
In terms of convenient lies such as your “nice to meet you” example, I think those are just gestures of good decorum and in a day an age with etiquette is going down the tubes, I think that category “untruths” can go a long way.
But yes… when we face the bigger truths, we free our spirits and enrich our souls.

This one swept me off my feet...really speaking... at hearing the truth of Truth. Yes, it is so heavy, that our stomachs refuse to digest it. It is frightening. That is why the tremendous conservatism of human nature is so evident everywhere. We don't want to be transformed by truth, and use all lie as a protective cover. That again, is the truth of the matter.

There's a lot of truth in your ruminations upon truth here.
