Pat B's right......
Why worry so much.....wait until something has happened then worry about why you didn't worry about it to begin with!

Worry is a useless activity. 90% of the time what you worry about
never happens -- but something you never thought of can knock the props out from under you.  When I realized that, I, too, quit being a worry-wart. It's like taking ten pounds off.  Another thing I've noticed -- everybody feels like a stranger at times, even among their close friends & family. The best times I've had have been when I forgot myself and concentrated on making them feel warmly welcomed. :)

Thanks for your sage advice, Whysper??????

LOL...As always, I"m somewhat confused after a conversation with you-- I do thoroughly endorse the END to worry though.

It only causes negative results...nothing positive. Okay, well, I'm off to hide under my bed.

Thanks Drohan...I've found that most people don't
Want you to be honest with them. Most folks would rather not hear the truth.

Always remember that saying

What doesn't kill us, scares the shit out of us and makes us hide under the bed.

Or something like that.  My grandma used to say, that worrying was just borrowing trouble that hasn't happened yet, and you shouldn't borrow trouble because there's no way to pay it back.

I have no idea what that means, but she always made it sound like such an important lesson.

My part of the world sux bowling balls, but you know what?  Neither do I, so I say joke 'em if they can't take a fuck and be done with it.

Mysteria, I think my ability to kick the worry habit was a by-product
Of having lost complete control of my life for so long. I was lost and helpless for so long and then this realization hit me:

"There's one thing you can do! And it's something big that will make a huge difference."

You have to get the revelation yourself though or it won't work.

posted by Passionflower on February 12, 2007 at 9:19 PM | link to this | reply

I'm somewhat like that too Mysteria...

But not as bad as you. I honestly wish you knew someone who could help you focus your thoughts better. With some training, I believe you could learn to shut out their 'voices'.

I've developed this technique over time and it's made a difference. Your strange 'ability' wasn't given to you to harm you but rather to help mankind. But you need to learn to control it better.

Wish we lived closer so we could practice the exercises together.

PassssH...YaY! To lose the worry bug is a great accomplishment

I work on that one a lot.  It's hard.  I also work on my empathy problem.  I have empathy sickness.  I feel way too much of the pain in the world to the point where I have to hide out by myself for a long time before my batteries are charged up enough to play a role in society.

I hope that you find other facets of your personality that will aide you in being the best person you can be.  You are always learning and growing PasssH! That's a great thing! I have faith that you will become the person that you aspire to be.  Me Too! xXx

I just pray you're right Waterkat...

But what if you're not? Maybe this isn't normal and we are really different. It wouldn't be the end of the world, would it?

Things are so messed up right now that the world would barely notice us. I'm a realist. I try to go down both paths in my mind to see if I can live with the eventual outcome to both of them.

I can.

By the way....

I will write again soon, I have a lot to digest.....you have reminded me of my fave quote which I even wrote on my own profile " I am many things, no one thing defines me.  At my last count there were about 8 different me's.  Oops Ive let the cat (kat) out of the bag!,,, see this is also why I doubt my sanity.  But then again, I believe it could be normal for all of us to have any number of me's, depending on where you are at on your journey....what do u think Passion?

Whacky...I had no choice!

I don't have health insurance and the worry was causing me to have to see a chiropractor and massage therapist regularly. PLus, I was getting high blood pressure.

I decided that there was no way it could be God's will for me to worry. So I just quit.

Good for you! You really stopped worring?
