Not Really...
Because I may be compassionate toward someone who murders or is a thief or a child molester because they happen to be human beings but I will do everything in my power to make sure they aren't on the street to commit those crimes against others.  And, yes, I feel like homosexuality is a disease and is just as dangerous and it's something to fight from being infested into our children.  The fact that they are willing to go to such lengths to force the rest of us who believe what they are doing is wrong to accept their behavior says that they are not loving at all.  They are trying to take away freedom of speech from many of us and they have cost a lot of people their jobs because of trying to force their lifestyle on the rest of us.  Not to mention the fact that they have used companies to force employees to go through what they say is tolerance training.  What I call it is brainwashing and I would rather lose my job than be forced into sitting through something like that.

Of course, it's costing the Ford Motor Company big time because thousands of people who stand up for family values across the country have boycotted Ford for their stand with the homosexual community and they have lost money in every quarter for a year now because of it.  Wal-Mart tried to do the same and we boycotted them and they backed down right before Christmas because they couldn't afford the economic loss they would have faced had the boycott continued.

your statement is an oxymoron and dichotomous and disparate

"But no matter how compassionate I feel for the homosexual community, I will fight tooth and nail not to let them spread their pathetic disease to others in this country and I will stand up and say "no" to gay marriage and anything that promotes what they do. I can easily care for them as human beings but I will not shut up and allow that vile garbage to infect future generations of this country and tear down what is good about this country"

you say ou're compassionate, then call it a pathetic disease -- and vile garage that infects

between trying to convince that you love homosexuals, your bigotry shows through

here's a definition of bigotry

noun
Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion:

synonym:  intolerance.

or:  prejudice

noun
  1. An inclination for or against that inhibits impartial judgment:

are your opinions a synonym?

we're going back to god's opinion are we?

hope you aren't using Leviticus  - that has been shown to be an illegitimate passage since the whole of the book basically deals with laws that are totally outdates -- you shouldn't take one passage out for you own purposes and leave the rest.

(I am sure you eat pork and don't observe Jewish holidays -- you are Christian after all and don't believe in all that stuff that's found in Leviticus).

I've mentioned it several times -- the Apostle Paul, in his writings,  was talking about certain activities of his day that were definitely abusive, not about loving homosexual relationships.

so were all the New Testament writers.  What they saw is not what we see today.

But what I see here is downright prejudice and bigotry.  Like radical Moslems, you use scripture to hide your own personal bigotry.

Well, you ought to feel....
safe sitting on your expatriated butt over there in Italy....If you feel that way, go ahead and make a statement....prove your point and renounce your citizenship.

New Yorker in Sicily...
I agree that there are a lot of things in the Bible that we aren't supposed to do and I'm not putting homosexuality above any of them.  I'm simply stating that the Bible says that homosexuality is an abomination to God and that those who participate in that will not go to Heaven unless they repent before leaving this earth.  The same goes for someone who kills, who steals, who is straight and having sex outside of marriage or committing adultery.

That's why what Jesus did for us was so incredible because He paid the price for what we do but it is up to us to receive that gift in the way that God has instructed.  And, it's so simple to receive.  It's just a choice to repent (change our course to His) and receive the gift of salvation by faith.

However, if we continue in sin, we will not go to Heaven and we do not get to make the rules.  We have the right to choose not to do things God's way but we will suffer the consequences of not doing so.

PS:
You're right: America is not a democracy - I forgot all about the ignorant warmonger we have have in office voted in by rednecks who have no clue as to what goes on in the world. And where do you find war as a solution in the New Testament? - Ask Dubya, he might tell you.

As a Catholic I have news for you:
According to the Bible there's a lot of things we shouldn't be doing - straight or gay. He who has no sin cast the first stone - words spoken by my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

That cannot be done.....
An amendment to the US Constitution cannot be initiated on the state level....

A new amendment would have to be passed with 2/3  majority in both houses.....and that is not going to happen.  You cannot revive an amendment that has expired...

Corbin, just for your info...
I realize that the ERA wasn't ratified but they are bringing it back on a state by state basis to overrule what has already been decided in those states.  They have rewritten it and are re-proposing it.  Just thought you should know.

In the first place,
It's not my opinion...it's God's.  I didn't write the Bible, He did.  And, even if you don't think so, it's irrelevant because what you think isn't going to matter when you face Him.  He doesn't give a flying leap about your opinion.  He made us and He has the right to make the rules.  Tough nooggies if you don't like it.

And, for your information, America is not a democracy.  If it were, we wouldn't have the issue of gay marriage out there at all because most of America thinks it's wrong.  They have proven it over and over the way they are voting.  Unfortunately, we have a number of idiots in Congress who vote the way they think and not according to their constituents.  That's why America isn't a democracy.  It's ruled by selfish, power hungry politicians and that was never the intention of our founding fathers.

I personally am not offending anyone
It's opinions like these that scare the shite out of me and make me wonder how long it will be before America turns into a Fascist country at the hands of intolerant, narrow minded folk. Thank God America is still a democracy!

Whimsy....
The amendment expired without ratification in 1982 Because an insufficient number of State legislatures ratified it....So it is no longer in existence........
