whysper--
we're not terribly far apart in what we think and believe. However, in addition to learning, to achieve self awareness, I would suggest that we are here to experience every emotion possible. And perhaps it is through these emotions, that we achieve this awareness...

Julia

An interesting perspective, however I don't believe our journey is as linear as this implies.  I do not believe that my soul is necessarily more advanced than that of my dog.  I also do not restrict the lives to the linear concept of time.

Since  I believe that all time exists at once it is easy to conceive of a soul living a life in today's time and then a following life in an earlier decade/century and most certainly in a different space/place, i.e. thousands of years ago on the planet we now call Mars.

I do agree that each life we spend is given to us as an opportunity to learn as we seek to achieve self awareness at which point, theoretically at least, we could become aware outside of this universe/time/space continuum, and no longer return to a "life", so to speak.

well, I think each animal's soul does have a paricular purpose, a reason they are with you and not someone else in this lifetime. But I'm not sure about the unconditional love, esp. with cats--stop feeding a cat and it would probably just start living at the neighbors house! LOL.

thanks, I'm glad you liked it. And I think it is true also!

I sometimes think about the purpose of the closest ones in my life. I think in many ways, animals are great teachers. They teach trust, devotion, and most of all, unconditional love.

It's a good name for cats Julia
I have always considered myself a caged gypsy anyway.  The wanderlust is there but the funding is not LOL!

I never said my cat was a genius!  Gypsy was a chocolate lab.  I named her after a friend who is closer than family and had a Gypsy soul, so we all called him Gypsy.

About the word ism.  I'm going to type really small, okay?  orgasm  SHHHH!

Carl says you are right about the night vision.  They are taught to do that in the military if they aren't using the night vision equipment.

LOL Julia
I forgot about that!  Speaking of cats...Sammy escaped outside when I tried to convince him to stay home.  It's freaking cold and he is in trouble when he gets home for making me worry about him.

Now, I am really curious...EXPLAIN!

Ted Andrews has a few good books on the subject Julia
Also, not the same thing but similar topic.  If you can find the book "The Wind Is My Mother" by Bear Heart...You must read it!

You said ism.
I guess I'm a bit immature today, because the word ism makes me think of naughty things.  The jelly give it's a little sweetness and keeps the meatballs held together.

Bel and I werehn't separated at birth, we are actually the same blogger using two accounts. LMAO.

About that eyepatch
I just saw a Myth Busters episode about pirates.  Turns out the reason most pirates wore an eyepatch was not because their eyeball was gone.  Instead, it had something to do with being able to see in the dark.  Something about keeping one eye covered allowed them to focus better on dark ships.  It was really interesting.

Presely

1. Yes there is a such word as curiouser...I invented it, it's a Bel-ism.  OK, actually I didn't make it up, I heard it somewhere in some mystery type thing but so what?

2. I am positive we were seperated at birth

3. Grape jelly?

no, I haven't done any reading on that but I know of a few books--Have you read When Elephants Weep? Or are there some you'd recommend?

1.)  Curiouser?  Is that a word?

2.)  I'm beginning to think you two were seperated at birth.

3.)  I'll post my meatball recipe later on this week.  There's grape jelly in the recipe.

Wow Julia, I have a lot to say about this because I agree with what you

said. I know people whose pets have come back to them and in some weird ways they (we) found out. Have you read any books on the souls of animals? We will have to talk on this further. I have three of my cats that have passed within the past four years and I feel and sense their spirits around me and so do my other cats!
