The pain of a child
Is the worst pain of all they are deffenseless against adults, I just today held tightly my 7 day old Grandson today what a beautiful feeling it was there is no other like it

Isn't he dead now? But in one sense, being from the back of beyond,
I suppose you can see what they were trying to do, i.e. do something so headline-grabbing (manipulating the crass media that you describe) that the world would sit up and take notice, and in particular the Russians, to leave Chechnya alone. Putin has been brutal to Chechnya - is it so surprising that Chechnya would react brutally? Why should a different cultural group submit to the contemptuous imperialist policies of Putin et al? Would we? Having said that, the Beslan incident was an atrocity of the worst kind. The lesson is simply that violence and hatred begets violence and hatred.
