Bitter - party of one
Some people don't understand sarcasm... somehow, I thought I had made it clear that I am indeed much like the ex-wives the divorced men I have had dinner with divorced.  In fact, after hearing their stories, it usually sounds like they went middle age crazy, chucked the wife, kids and dog to buy a sports car and chase younger women only to discover that they made a stupid mistake or that younger women really don't want them unless they have plenty of money to spare.... which most don't due to alimony and child support.  I look like a good compromise because I have no children living at home (meaning I am not looking to latch on to a man to play Daddy to my children) and I don't need anyone else to play big spender for me as I have money of my own - money which makes me "attractive" to men who have none to spare.

My goodness!

You seem to have an inexplicable animus toward this woman based solely on this one aspect of her life that she shared here. Why the vitriolic criticism?

If you are offended by her lifestyle and feel compelled to comment on it - from a place of maturity, wisdom and support of other women - wouldn’t a less judgmental comment make more sense?

You came off as a bitter woman, not a feisty one.

i think...

Maybe you need to take some lessons in understanding literature. Granted this piece wasn't written by Shakespeare, but before you slopped red ink all over it, it was a well written sarcastic stand against our society's twisted image of women.

She is talking about being proud to be 44 and still feel attractive, and not needing some pimply faced college student to "honor" her by posting her on his website so she can feel young again. It talks about the importance of keeping ones dignity, faith and pride when one finds themself unexpectedly facing the world alone at a later age in life. It talks about Maturity and Wisdom, all neatly tucked into one little blurb that was obviously successful in stirring thought and emotion.
