As a Torontonian who lives in the 'surrounding area', a.k.a. the GTA, I couldn't agree with you more. As a matter of fact, when they where planning that stupid Sheppard subway line, I wrote to them (as did a lot of others, I'm sure) to suggest a re-alignment of priorities, and consider a line to the airport. Of course, as we all know, they did build that Sheppard line! I think it had to do with local York politics!

But it's nice to find another Torontonian in these parts...

This trip was a meeting of the management team where I work so the location fit most people's schedule (we have offices all over the world). Since it was an all day meeting I couldn't do a conference call and stay home .

I took your advice, had some tea, got my book (and some licorice)and was in bed by 9pm. Only downside to that was I was up and wide awake at 6am !

Toronto is a good city in many respects but it falls way, way behind compared to other major centers in the world. Over 2 million people live in Toronto with another 3 million in the surrounding area yet we have been burdened by a dearth of foresight in our political leaders for many years. Our transit system is antiquated and unreliable leading to mass congestion on the roads as people rely on cars to get to where they need to go.

Our tax dollars and air tickets fees funded major construction at our international airport but poor management leave us with equipment that breaks down regularly and a design that doesn't allow for quick exits from the airport.

I always leave myself lots of time to travel. I'm happy as a clam to sit and people watch after arriving early for a flight. What frustrates me enormously is service that I've paid for (luggage and taxi)not delivered properly.
