A very good assesment and thanks for the comment. There has never been peace in the Middle East and there never will be. You are very correct. Until a country gets a government up and running things would go well over there. You'd have to do what we did country by country and we have no stomach for that.

The Democrats, as usual, only make themselves look ridiculous
... so obviously and obnoxiously catering to the polls. Meanwhile any meaningful debate is sadly lacking.
My own take on it is that we already won the war in Iraq when we deposed Saddam. We are having difficulty with winning the peace. IMHO, we should not have tried to, there or elsewhere. Legitimacy will only be gained by a government gaining power from the people and respecting their freedoms. The former is made difficult by our presence. Correcting the lack of the latter is where the military might of the free world is put to its best use.
In a nutshell, our work is done in Iraq and Afghanistan, but needs to start in Syria and Saudi Arabia.
