I'm probably New New-Age

I try to get a very clear vision of what I want in life.

Then I work to get it.

What kooka said
All too often, the threat of an afterlife has been used to manipulate people into behaving a certain way. "Behave this way or else you'll go to Hell."  Yes, there is a certain emotional satisfaction in the thought of a Hitler or Stalin going there - the Germans call such satisfaction schadenfreude. But more often, people get manipulated into behaving a certain way by the threat of Hell if they do not do so. The Christian doctrine of salvation actually does prevent some people from working on getting themselves out of their own messes, but then, so does the New Age idea of visualizing success (all those people sitting around doing nothing but visualizing success, rather than getting up off their rumps and taking action).

I agree
I think we as a race are ready to grow-up and get beyond the need for someone to save us.  We will mature and start to accept responsibility for our actions and realize that we need to focus more on the here and now, not worrying about some possible afterlife.
