I think I'd be less worried about the inconvenience & irritation,
and more worried about what caused the thing to sound off. If you have a gas cookstove that's not properly vented, or if there's some kind of leak in your furnace's exhaust system, it's possible you're being exposed to deadly fumes at intervals. If you're having headaches, a sense of being off balance or dizzy, a bit of nausea, that's another indicator. Take care.
