I do wish you were wrong, but...
...I fear you are only too correct. The left has historically twisted reality to its own needs. I discuss this in some detail in a previous post, I Can See Clearly Now.

Argee, I posted a similar article by the congressman. Some people on the blog are having a hard time seeing the necessity of a balanced view of the activities in Iraq. I fear many who oppose Bush, even before the war, are finding more value in a U.S. so
dier's death than in his life. Because the deaths are making GWB look bad, and, to some, that is all that matters.

I think Hack really likes Clark...but with some reservations.

Most senior officers (like Hack and Clark) are more comfortable within a statist structure and bureaucracy than within a free-wheeling, open society. Now don't get me wrong, both Hack and Clark are honorable Americans who have spent their lives in defense of our system. But both have a comfort zone that includes much of what the Democrats espouse: specifically (1) well established bureaucracy; (2) a "we are here to take care of you" attitude; (3) strong centralized control of everything possible (i.e. do it at the federal level, if possible); and (4) an elitist perspective of the world and our society.

This makes most senior officers better political material for the Democrats than the Republicans. Many pundits thought Colin Powell would go Democrat because of this, and even Ike gave much consideration to which party banner he would run under.

Both Hack and I believe that Clark would make a very good president--certainly better than any of the others (although Lieberman sounds pretty good as well), but Hack is more inclined to support him outright than am I. I admire Bush; Hack doesn't. BUT I also GREATLY admire Hack.

In the final analysis, if Clark gets the nomination, Hack will support his candidacy, although with some reticence, because Hack has problems with the more left-leaning programs of the Democrats. If Clark wins (unlikely, in my opinion), Hack will commence sniping from the sidelines like he does at Bush now.

Argee I would like to see your take on
the interview Hack did with Clark. I would say he was impressed how do you see it?
