I'm not really sure if they should be able to read without paying.  That would confuse the "profit sharing".  However, I do feel that Blogit has become complacent with the site.

I agree, I barely have time for one!

I'll see how this one goes; I really want to do a fiction one, but I don't know that I'd have time to maintain two more.

LOL Naut
With Carl working nights I will have more time for a bit as I don't sleep well with him gone...one would think I would be used to that LOL!  I agree if I were here for the money, I'd be out of luck!

bel,

five? I barely have time for the two I have. And for me, two is definitely enough, one for serious stuff, the other one for 'fun'.

And yes, it would be nice if this place could be jazzed up a bit. Joe Love has some good ideas on that issue. But to make a profit here? I know, some people do, but very few, and I don't know how much time they devote to this. If I had joined for the money I would have left a long time ago! But it's a kind of fun place, and, being lazy by nature, I need that little prod of having to post something from time to time...

Whacky
It seems like they do a good deal of advertising, I just think they need to really consider the copy for those ads.

I barely have time to sit here and get caught up. I did receive a check from them yesterday for 155 dollars. Came just in time.

I would love to add another blog...like a music one but I can't

keep up with the three I have!

Good luck!

For various reasons, I can't keep up with more than one. And I think the sense of community one experiences here could be a selling point. o

I see people with numerous Blogs and you as you pointed out they usually write/post primarily in one anyway and the others are often quite dormant.  (I'm guilty of having an inactive Blog).  Do we really need more than one or two to say what we want to say?  Dunno.  Could Blogit do a better job of advertising?  I'm not sure about that either. I just kind of stumbled on it when I was looking for a wirter's Blog and have done little or no homework on the choices out there ever since.

I had 5

but it wasn't cost effective for me.  I had signed up in order to MAKE money, that was the way I'd been lured to the site.  I had 5 because they were different parts of me and my life, I ended up cutting it to just the one though as I wasn't making anything like what I was led to believe.  Now that could be because I write boring stuff that nobody is interested in ... yet those who read and comment seem quite happy with my stuff, be it my poetry, weight loss, backyard barnyard etc, so it would seem not to be that.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you choose to do, keep the 5 or go to 3 or like me, to 1.

I agree, I have made a bit over $125.00 on this one since march.  Granted, I have had down time, etc... but there are definately months that I don't even make what I pay out.  It's not so much about the money for me as I keep coming back anyway, but what I am finding is we always have the same people posting day after day...once again not a bad thing, but that number seems to be dwindling.

bel--
before investing to lure in new bloggers, they need something like an exit poll to find out why so many join, stay for a month or two and hightail it for the hills. I am sure the numbers would be sobering. But I agree that advertising this as a "writer'" site is a bit of a stretch. Not only that, but all the ads I saw made it sound like you could actually earn some money. $1,000 in three years is not exactly a windfall. LOL.

I like having more than one because I have different ideas that I don't want to mix up but the 5 seems like a good deal of work, though I am sure I can find something to do with them LOL!

I think one blog could say all I have to say but I have already opened them because they are different. But I don't know much about everything today. Be blessed.

I am hoping I can keep up with the comments.  One is going to be a photo blog and the other I kind of have a silly idea for it so we will see how that goes.

I agree the advertising is really hindering and in my opinion it actually sends some possible very good and active members away because they don't consider themselves 'writer's".

I'm grandfathered under the cheaper rates. I can host pictures from an outside source and all the bells and whistles on my blog I added without needing to upgrade. Plus, I get unlimited blogs if I want. Of course I can't keep up with more than one at a time, so I'll never have more. I mentioned in a comment to Joe Love a while ago that the blogit powers-that-be are definitely barking up the wrong tree as far as advertising goes. Instead of a "writer's marketplace," if they hyped the vibrant community aspects of this site, the fact that regular contributors are almost guaranteed readership and comments, we'd have an endless flood of new members.

Five? lots of luck keeping up with all the comments, etc...
I've been considering going to only one, because I'm spending my prime fiction and poetry writing time on the three I have now, plus browsing and commenting on others. But I'll be watching for your new stuff... and your decorations. :)

I agree with offy about wallpapers.... it usually makes things harder

to read.  I think I have 5 blogs, but never can keep up with them daily.

As for Blogit, I'm still of the opinion that they should close the comments to outsiders.  It's either a membership site, or not.   Give people a free 30-day signup and they'll be hooked.   Also, Blogit should stop giving clicks to blogs from inactive members.  They end up eating these revenues (padding their own income) when it should really go to active subscribers.

I don't see any reason to have 5 blogs unless all you plan to do is write write and more writing. I have seen so many blogs left unattended for months because of time restraints. I have one of those myself..lol. The clock thing drives me nuts cause I usually know what time it is so that asset is highly over rated and as far as the busy wall paper effect sometimes it is so distracting I can't focus on what I am reading.  In other words they are just too busy for this girl..My 2 cents

I took GOLD so that I could decorate my blogs and write in 5 categories.  It's tough maintaining 5 categories, but I look at it as a way to display 5 different sides of my character.  I encourage you to stick with the 5 blogs simply on the basis that it will help you become a better writer.  I mean, if time doesn't permit, I would understand, but you're an excellent communicator.  About what Blogit can do - I looked at their press page and the last article done was in 2005!  Hello!  Get your name out there blogit!
