In Light Of All The Debate Concerning Our Troops In Iraq
A reposting of this poetic essay to help create some thoughtful insight.
An Iraqi woman was walking barefoot,
With a heavy sack of flour upon her head;
She had a smile on her face, a spring in her step -
As if she and her hungry children had been resurrected
From a sealed tomb of the dead.
Have you ever been hungry and thirsty?
Have you ever been in need of clean clothes?
American soldiers liberating Iraqi citizens,
Clothing and feeding hundreds of hurting souls.
Have you ever been terribly sick,
Without the promise of a healthy cure;
American soldiers bringing the gift of healing,
With freedom's motives ever so true and pure!
Jesus of Nazareth, walked the Middle East roads
With dusty sandals of compassionate love;
An Iraqi woman walking barefoot...
With a sack of flour on her head --
A most wonderful gift
From her Creator, resident in heaven above!
