Whenever religiosity and the state become one, people suffer ...
in the case of christians ... I wish they would look to Christ and do as He says. Great post, thanks.

I'm afraid you're right, TAPS. Unhappily, I must say that many today who
profess being Christians haven't an inkling as to Christ's teachings, nor are they very Christ-like...

I'm afraid that "the religious right" is not necessarily synonymous with "Christian" if by the word "Christian" one means a follower of Christ's example and teachings.

There is a distinction to be made there, TAPs, that few on the religious
right seem to even care to notice. Despite the revisionists' rewrites, most of our founding fathers would be apalled to witness this rise of the "Christian nation"...

I have not read the book but your post is great. I especially like your reference to a nation of Christians vs a Christian nation.

I try to give people a good head start into a book, analyze it a little,
praise it (or show a shortcoming). Then I give it up to the potential readers. It may seem abrupt. I had never thought about it. Thank you, I_love_words.

Very interesting!
I really liked your review and it has certainly got me curious about the book which obviously is the whole point. It seemed to end a little abruptly which surprised me. I may be wrong, but I thought I would still give you something to think about, if you dont agree just chuck my comment out of the window. :)
