as a baby boomer on the verge of retirement, I find it a bit scary..
I was always taught to respect my elders, and our daughters have likewise, but the world out there is very threatening in this regard....

Don't get me started...I think grandparents are a gift.
We are lucky just to know them.

I think it may only get worse as the Baby Boomers come
into the latter stages of their lives. There will be so many old folks about that the youngsters will probably be trying to hide from them.

Rachel

Good for you!

There have been cases of women in their eighties and nineties raped and assualted in Britain. What a sick society!

On a different, much less sad note, I regret not having listened to the stories that my paren'ts generations told ; both my parents were born in the late 1880s.

As you say, we've lost so much folklore and wisdom with the passing of that generation. And now, at the age of 75, I in turn regret that so much will pass away with my generation.

I can, and do, try to pass a bit on here in Blogit, but there is only marginal interest in the past, apart that is from my regular, loyal, and highly appreciated coterie of readers.

A good post. Thank you

Rach
I'm just surprised how much it happens...and why is a 74 year old left by themselves anyway...so many die in their homes from simple things because they can't get to help or much needed medical treatment. So sad.
