Factor--
It's probably not that hard, if one knows how to do these things. Sadly, I do not! But never say never...

Rachel--
Yes, perhaps! Or the name resonates with you for a different reason.

Good story, Julia!

(PS - if you figure out how to get the dragon soundtrack digitized, I want to hear it! )

Julia
It is a much prettier sounding name than Julie. I'm glad you went with your heart.

I feel honored that I was named after my uncle George who served in
W.W.2 and never came back..but from what I understand, "George" actually means "Tiller of the soil", and I have no evidence of a green thumb....

Nope...

I never have liked my name much, but wouldn't want to go through the hassle of changing it.  I've always gone by Rachel, but my family has always insisted on calling me Rae, which I cannot stand and they know it but it's hard to break the habit.  They started calling me Rae when I was a baby and they still do it in writing, on the phone, and in person.

I do think my name is a bit off.  My mom was going to name me Sarah but when i was born she changed her mind and named me after a great aunt.  Perhaps I was meant to be Sarah?  I dunno..

Ciel--
I find it fascinating how you came up with that name, based upon sound. I was Julie A, and always signed my name that way...so if you run it together, it is juliea...

bel--
well I must admit that your real name does not resonate with me much--it does not seem to fit you.

Julie Julia
I get what Samuel was saying to you.  I've experienced being introduced to people and when they tell me their name there have been instances where I don't feel their name fits them.  There's a girl I work with whose name is Rachel.  She just doesn't look like a Rachel to me.

Hummmm...
now you have me thinking.

Julia

How very interesting. Perhaps your mother has a French background luv?

I have a daughter-in-law,  Julie, she's French Canadien.

I like Julie myself, but then, I'm from Québec and I love the sound of ma belle Julie, he says with deepthroated French accent.

Julia seems more mature.

I'm with you! I have not been all that fond of the name I was given,

but always felt a bit of a liar if I tried to change it.  Even felt that way when I took a married name, until I had signed it that way a few times, and no one called me a liar!  But changing my given name was just different somehow-- maybe because it was supposed to be me, not just my family designation.

As it happens, my first initials are CL, and Ciel came naturally out of that.  I like it partly because it means Sky, the middle name I gave my second daughter.  I like its implications and energy, and that it is non-secular in a way that Christine just never can be!

I seldom answer to my given name outside of family members
Carl started calling me bel years ago and for some reason it just felt right.

Julia, I understand this completely - I have been in the same place with this - with myself and with others. Listen to your soul; she knows the truth of you. MoonSpirit
