Welp, I kind of think he probably already understands you.
Bartenders have a very accute sense for judging character. They have to. Although I know it seems cliche, they DO have a knack for listening. . . , and analzying. He probably made his judgement of you the very first day you stepped into the place.
In other words, stop being so afraid.

I agree with Julia that you can't really become "that girl" so easily, when you know you're really not. Sounds like you know how not to become anything but you. Most people don't know how to look in the mirror and not respect themselves...and they probably should!

well, you don't know for sure what he is thinking,
so why not just assume that he was into you, and happy that you hung around? You can't turn into "that girl" overnight!
